Early Cinema Prezis

When watching some of the early films I would like you to consider the following:
Do the films have any narrative or storyline?
Do the films use editing to communicate meaning to the audience?
How did advances in technology help early filmmakers?
Can you see a development of film style as filmakers became more confident using the medium of film to tell stories?
What impact do you think the films would have had on the audience at the time?
The majority of early film spectators in America were non-English speaking first generation immigrants. What advantages did the cinema of the time hold for these early cinema goers?
Are there any examples of film making techniques that are still used today?
Please give specific examples from the films to back up the points you make.
